An Oberlin Conservatory graduate with Bachelor's of Music and Master's of Music in Teaching Degrees, Denise has been teaching and helping to fulfill musical dreams for her students as they perform and earn highest ratings in local festivals, competitions and pursue excellence in their musical training. Many students compete in State, Regional and National competitions with the National Music Teachers Association as well as the Young Artist Competition. Denise Verheul is a former Florida State Concerto Chairman and has had many Concerto winners in competitions. She is an active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Ms. Verheul also specializes in College Audition Preparation and has helped many students get accepted into prestigious music schools across the country including Oberlin Conservatory, Juilliard, University of Michigan, Eastman School of Music, Florida State University, Indiana University, Cincinnati Conservatory, Berklee School of Music, Elon, NYU, etc... As far as younger students, Denise has written a curriculum "Look at Me Play Piano" which focuses on immediate note-reading, using the full keyboard quickly, promotes strong sense of "using their ears" and develops "inner sense" of rhythm/beat - promoting excellent sight-reading skills for the future. Ms. Verheul is devoted to each individual student, assesses their strengths and customizes their music training that best suits their innate sense of musicianship and natural abilities - striving to motivate students to achieve their potential.
Ms. Verheul is available for private lessons and also for SKYPE lessons for students outside her area.
