Steve is a Registered Piano Technician (RPT) with over 30 years full time experience. This means that he has passed a series of rigorous exams covering tuning, repairing and regulating pianos given by the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG).
After graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Music degree (composition), Steve apprenticed with the late Ned Dodson, a noted concert tuner and technician in the Washington D.C. area. He has also attended many training seminars including a Baldwin concert preparation course and a number of week-long PTG National Conventions. Steve has worked in Ted Snyder's piano rebuilding shop and as an "in store" technician for Kunkel Piano & Organ. For the last 15 years or so he has been an independent tuner/technician.
Steve is currently serving institutions such as Center Stage, Notre Dame of Maryland University, Notre Dame Prep, Baltimore County Public Schools, the Catonsville Presbyterian Concert Series and many churches and synagogues including St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Cockeysville, the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church, and Beth T'filoh Congregation and Schools. Most of his clients are private individuals in the greater Baltimore metro area, including Baltimore City and Baltimore, Howard, Northern Anne Arundel and Harford Counties.
Steve is the Minister of Music and an Elder at Faith Bible Church in Elkridge, Maryland (www.faith-bible.org). Steve and his wife, Michelle, have six children.
Michelle, who also has a Bachelor of Music degree (piano) from the University of Maryland, teaches beginner to early advanced piano from their home in Elkridge; call her at 410-796-0019 to ask about openings in her teaching schedule.
